Fallston, MD (September 16, 2014) – Is your dog a ham in front of the camera? Does your parakeet strike a pose? Can you imagine the family cat basking in the spotlight? The Humane Society of Harford County (HSHC) has issued a casting call for Harford County’s most photogenic pets for its 5th annual “Make Your Pet a Pin-Up” calendar contest. The grand prize winner will appear on the cover of the 2015 calendar – and it could be your pet!

This fun and friendly competition is not just for cats and dogs – photos of pets of any kind (small critters, reptiles, farm animals, etc.) are welcomed and encouraged. To enter pet photo(s) online and view the other entries, visit https://www.360photocontest.com/279. Entries will be accepted from September 15th until November 10, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. EST. The entry fee is a $10 donation per photo and there is no limit to how many photos can be submitted, but photos must contain animals only, please.

After submitting their photo(s), pet parents are encouraged to contact friends and family members to vote for their photo. Votes are $1 per vote with a minimum purchase of five votes required. Voters can apply all of their votes to one image or divide them across any number of pets’ entries.

Photo entries and votes can also be sent through the US mail to the Humane Society of Harford County’s Calendar Contest, 2208 Connolly Road, Fallston, MD 21047 with a check for the appropriate donation amount ($10 minimum per photo and $1 per vote). Please include a note stating the pet’s name, the owner’s name and phone number and how votes should be applied. Photo entries and votes must be postmarked by October 29, 2014 and will be reflected online within 48 hours of receipt.

The pet photo with the most votes (donations) at the end of the contest will be awarded the grand prize: the cover of the calendar, 5 free calendars and two tickets to the 2015 Bow Wow Boogie, Harford County’s largest gala for homeless and neglected animals. The pet that finishes in second place will be January’s photo of the month and will receive 5 free calendars. The third place winner will be February’s pet of the month and will receive 2 free calendars. The fourth through thirteenth place winners will each be featured as a pet of the month. Entries that do not win a monthly spot will still be featured in a collage page inside the 2015 calendar – so everyone comes out a winner!

Businesses are invited to sponsor the calendar contest. Each of the 12 monthly sponsorships are available for $250 each, and the back cover sponsorship is available for $500. Businesses who commit by October 10th will be featured on the contest website at no extra charge. For more information about sponsorship opportunities, visit https://www.360photocontest.com/279.

Pre-order the 2015 calendar now for just $10 each or ten for $75. Calendars will be ready for pick-up by the end of November. Order forms are available at https://www.360photocontest.com/279.

HSHC’s “Make Your Pet a Pin-Up” contest is a major fundraiser, with all proceeds benefitting the thousands of animals HSHC shelters each year. Entry fees as well as votes are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. Questions about the contest should be directed to Erin Long at 410-836-1090, x106 or [email protected]. Let the fun begin!
