Adopters can pick their own “purr-fect” adoption price on dozens of cats and kittens waiting to make a Hollywood match

Fallston, MD (June 18, 2013) – June is National Adopt-a-Shelter-Cat Month and in honor of the occasion, the Humane Society of Harford County (HSHC) is rolling out the red carpet for the third annual aCATemy Awards – a spectacular cat and kitten adoption event that will be held for two days only, June 29 from 10am – 5pm and again on June 30 from 12pm – 4pm. For all cats and kittens, adopters can pick their own purr-fect adoption price.

The “Pick Your Purr-Fect Price” cat adoption program was recently introduced as a brand new way to adopt a fun-loving feline from the animal shelter. There’s no catch; no hidden agenda; and no set adoption fee. Before picking your purr-fect price, consider these facts: (1) HSHC is a non-profit organization that is not affiliated with Harford County Government or the Humane Society of the United States. HSHC relies on the support of the community to raise the funds it needs to continue aiding homeless and neglected animals. (2) For every cat it shelters, HSHC invests well over $150 to ready the cat for a permanent home, including immunizations, treatments, spaying or neutering, testing, food and care. With these factors in mind, adopt a cat or kitten at the aCATemy Awards at the price you tell us!

No fashion faux paws at the aCATemy Awards! The cats will be dressed in their finest furs, just waiting to meet that special someone. When a Hollywood match is made, adopters will be ushered into our VIP lounge and given the star treatment. The paparazzi will be taking photos with the newest star of the family and adopters will be presented with a goodie bag. Photos will be displayed on the wall of fame. Refreshments will be served. Catch a glimpse of a real Hollywood star – Marilyn Meow, Will Feral, TomCat Hanks, or Cindy Clawford!

And the winner of the third annual aCATemy Awards is? Every shelter cat who finds a forever home and every human that finds a new best friend!

The “Pick Your Purr-Fect Price” cat adoption program includes a rabies vaccination (if the pet is at least 4 months old), the first set of distemper shots, de-wormer, flea & tick preventative, a microchip for identification purposes, and a general health exam. There is a $50 deposit for a HASP (Harford Animal Sterilization Program) certificate so the animal can be spayed or neutered. That fee is refunded upon completion of the procedure within 60 days (or 60 days after the animal reaches six months of age).
