Fallston, MD (March 6, 2025) – The Board of Directors of the Humane Society of Harford County (HSHC) are pleased to announce the appointment of Amanda Hickman as its new Executive Director. Hickman assumed her new role on Monday, January 6, 2025.
“We’re delighted to welcome Amanda to the Humane Society of Harford County,” said George Heidelmaier, President of the Board of Directors. “Amanda brings extensive experience in leadership, strategy, communications, financial management, and community engagement. We’re confident that her deep compassion for people and animals will help guide us into a promising new chapter.”
The vast majority of Hickman’s career has been in public service, and she was most recently a Federal Contract Administrator at R. Brooks Mechanical, LLC. Prior to that, she served first as Economic Development Coordinator & Grant Administrator for the Town of Perryville and next as Assistant Township Manager & Community Development Director for the West Lampeter Township.
During her time with these organizations, Hickman was responsible for regulatory land development authority, comprehensive plan creation and implementation, project management, budgetary oversight and overall public administration. Additionally, Hickman has experience in event management, historic site preservation, and developing grant funding programs.
“I’m excited to leverage my experience and skills to make an even greater impact toward a mission I personally support; animal welfare advocacy,” Hickman says. “I look forward to leading such a talented team at HSHC and serving the Harford County community.”
