Fallston, MD (June 17, 2020) – Jones Junction in Bel Air is used to making engines purr and putting smiles on their customers’ faces, but yesterday afternoon, they did something a little different. It was tails that were wagging and cats that were purring as representatives from Jones Junction gifted the Humane Society of Harford County (HSHC) with a $5,000 credit at The Mill of Bel Air. In addition, The Mill of Bel Air donated 100 bags of dog food to be used in the shelter’s Pet Food Pantry, valued at $1,500, to help pet owners in need during this critical time, and beyond. The credit at The Mill will be used to purchase supplies such as cat litter, small and barnyard animal feed and bedding, pet safe ice melt, and other shelter needs.

“Just when we needed it most, here came our friends at Jones Junction and The Mill,” said HSHC’s executive director, Jen Swanson. “Like so many other nonprofits, we’ve had to cancel all our fundraising events and activities so far this year, and our usual donations have also declined significantly. This donation will allow us to continue to do our vital work to protect and care for vulnerable pets in our community that are abandoned, homeless, abused, and neglected.”

“Neighbors look out for one another, especially during challenging times,” said Bryan Kilby, president of Jones Junction Auto Group. “We firmly believe it is our responsibility to support non-profit organizations in our local community, and we thank the Humane Society of Harford County for all they do.”

The Mill of Bel Air arrived yesterday in a flat-bed truck loaded with kitty litter, pet food and other key supplies to fill the shelves at the shelter. “Because we’re animal lovers, our staff is thrilled to be able to provide pet food for the pantry,” added Henry Holloway, owner of The Mill. “No pet owner should have to relinquish their companion simply because they’ve lost their job and can’t afford pet food. Animals should stay with their families where they belong.”
