The Art Rooms Professional Art Supplies in Havre de Grace is inviting artists of all ages and abilities to join them for an art competition, show and benefit to raise funds for the homeless and neglected animals at the Humane Society of Harford County (HSHC). The Arts Rooms is not looking for Harford County’s next Picasso, but they are looking for artists to shine the spotlight on our furry friends and raise funds for their care while having fun and letting the creative juices flow.
It’s easy to get involved and help the homeless animals. Choose to either decorate a wooden dog or cat figurine or choose to paint a favorite animal on canvas. Figurines and canvas boards can be purchased from The Art Rooms at 116 N. Washington Street in historic Havre de Grace or at The Humane Society of Harford County at 2208 Connolly Road in Fallston. Figurines cost just $21.58 and $5 of every purchase will be donated to HSHC. Artists are encouraged to decorate, paint and/or pose the figurine using any material; there is no limit to what you can do.
If decorating a dog or cat figurine is not appealing, then paint a favorite animal. For a $10 entry fee, receive a 9×12 canvas board to create a fabulous painting (any media accepted) of a wonderful animal. All entries must be framed and ready to hang.
All figurines and painting entries must be submitted to The Art Rooms no later than Friday, April 8th by 3pm. Entries of figurines & paintings will be judged separately in Adult, Youth and Children Categories during mid-April by professors from Harford Community College’s Art Department. Entries from previous years are not permitted.
The winning entries will be announced at a reception on Sunday, April 24th from 1-3pm at The Art Rooms. Winners will receive wonderful prizes. Support the animals at HSHC by placing a silent bid on one of several wonderful gifts, or purchase raffle tickets to win deluxe baskets. Music will be provided courtesy of Studio Students of Beth Baker – Woodwinds for a Cause.
Be creative and have fun with this project! Artists have the option of selling their finished figurines or paintings and keeping 100% of the proceeds or donating the proceeds to HSHC.
