Fallston, MD (March 5, 2014) – Top o’ the mornin’ to ya! Lots of leapin’ ‘lab’rachauns and purrin’ paddy cats are waiting to find lucky families on Saturday, March 15th from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m. when the adoption fee of adult cats and dogs will be reduced to just $17 – and that’s no blarney! The celebration is happening at both the Humane Society of Harford County (HSHC) at 2208 Connolly Road in Fallston and at its satellite cat adoption center, Rescue Me! at Harford Mall at 696 Belair Road in Bel Air.
Some of the animals are as small as leprechauns, some dream of fields of green, but all have hearts of gold. The animals’ photos and biographies can be viewed and the adoption application process can be started ahead of time by clicking here. As part of the adoption process, families should be prepared to bring their resident dog(s) for a “meet and greet” if they are considering adopting another dog.
We’ll have your Irish eyes smilin’ all afternoon with an array of tempting sweets at our Emerald Isle bake sale, free chocolate gold coins, Irish music, green bead necklaces, and more. It’s sure to be a lucky day, but we remind all the Irish lads and lassies to deposit their extra gold coins (spare change) to fill our pot o’ gold so we can continue to provide all the animals with the best care possible.
The $17 adoption fee for adult cats 7 months or older and dogs 1 year of age and older includes a rabies vaccination, the first set of distemper shots, de-wormer, flea & tick preventative, feline leukemia and feline AIDS testing, a microchip for identification purposes, and a general health exam. There is an additional $50 deposit for a HASP (Harford Animal Sterilization Program) certificate so the animal can be spayed or neutered. That fee is refunded upon completion of the procedure within 60 days.
