Fallston, MD (January 28, 2014) – Cats and dogs at the Humane Society of Harford County (HSHC) know that February is the month for L-O-V-E, so they’re inviting you to Furry Speed Dating on Saturday, February 8th. From noon until 3pm, pets will put their best paw forward to impress potential adopters who can meet multiple eligible furry bachelors and bachelorettes for lasting relationships, affection, loyalty and unconditional love. For these three hours only, the reduced adoption fee for cats 7 months and older will be $25 and dogs 1 year old and over will be just $50!

This adoption event is meant to be a take on the original speed dating idea for single people looking for love. Guests will be given a scorecard and several minutes with each pet before hearing a bell which means it’s time to switch to the next pet. While the initial speed date will be quick, guests can spend as much time as needed afterwards with their favorites.

“It’s a great way to get to know many different animals in a short amount of time,” said Mary Leavens, executive director at the shelter. “Plus, when you adopt a homeless animal, they will be your special Valentine every day of the year.”

The Furry Speed Dating event will feature complimentary refreshments, music, and a “Famous Pet Trivia” game. One lucky winner will be drawn from the entries to receive a Valentine themed gift basket.

The reduced adoption fees include a rabies vaccination, the first set of distemper shots, de-wormer, flea & tick preventative, a microchip for identification purposes, and a general health exam. If not already sterilized, there is a $50 deposit for a HASP (Harford Animal Sterilization Program) certificate so the animal can be spayed or neutered. That fee is refunded upon completion of the procedure within 60 days.

The Humane Society of Harford County is located at 2208 Connolly Road in Fallston and is open for adoptions Monday through Friday from 11am – 6pm; Saturdays from 10am – 5pm; and Sundays from 12pm – 4pm. To view all the eligible soul mates, click here.
