Almost 550 pets were vaccinated and/or microchipped at a public clinic hosted by the Humane Society of Harford County on Saturday, February 28 at the Abingdon Fire Company.

Fallston, MD (March 2, 2026) – The Humane Society of Harford County (HSHC) set a new record on Saturday, February 28, hosting the largest pet vaccine clinic in its history. Held at the Abingdon Fire Company, the high-impact community event drew an unprecedented 546 pets in a single day, underscoring both the growing demand for affordable veterinary care and the community’s commitment to responsible pet ownership in Harford County.

“A total of 392 dogs and 154 cats came through the clinic with their families,” said Amanda Hickman, executive director at HSHC. “For some, this was the first time their pet had gotten vaccinated in years, while others were bringing young pets that were getting vaccines for the first time. Everyone we spoke to was grateful to see us and for the affordability of the service.”

During the four-hour event, HSHC administered 435 rabies vaccines, along with distemper and Bordetella vaccines for both cats and dogs.

In addition to vaccinations, 72 pets received microchips, giving families added peace of mind by increasing the likelihood of being reunited should a pet ever become lost.

“We are incredibly grateful to our community for showing up in such a big way,” Hickman added. “Preventative care like vaccines and microchipping not only protects individual pets, but also helps safeguard public health and keep animals in loving homes.”

Adding to the day’s services, special guest Heart to Heart Mobile Pet Care, LLC was onsite offering $20 nail trims, helping pets look and feel their best while supporting their overall well-being.

Affordable vaccine clinics are part of HSHC’s ongoing commitment to accessible pet care and proactive community outreach. By providing low-cost preventative services, the organization aims to reduce barriers to veterinary care and prevent the spread of disease throughout Harford County.
