Fallston, MD (February 20, 2013) – The Art Rooms Professional Art Supplies is inviting artists of all ages and abilities to join them for an art show and benefit to raise funds for the homeless and neglected animals at the Humane Society of Harford County (HSHC). The Arts Rooms is not looking for Harford County’s next Picasso, but they are looking for artists to shine the spotlight on our furry friends and raise funds for their care while having fun and letting the creative juices flow.

It’s easy to get involved and help the homeless animals. First, purchase a hardwood dog and cat figurine from either The Art Rooms or HSHC until March 30. Figurines cost just $18 and $2.50 of every sale (plus a matching donation of $2.50 by The Art Rooms) is donated to HSHC. The Art Rooms is located at 116 N. Washington Street in Havre de Grace. HSHC is located at 2208 Connolly Road in Fallston. Then, let the fun begin! Decorate, paint and pose your figurine, and return it to The Art Rooms no later than Saturday, April 6 by 4pm. Any media is accepted; there is no limit to what you can do.

If decorating a dog or cat figurine is not appealing, then paint a favorite animal. For a $10 entry fee, receive a 9×12 canvas board. Create a fabulous painting (any media accepted) of a wonderful animal. All entries must be framed and ready to hang.

Judging of the finished figurines and paintings will take place at The Art Rooms during mid-April by art professors from Harford Community College’s Art Department. First, second and third place prizes will be awarded to the favorite figurines and paintings in both Adult & Children’s Categories. Entries from previous years are not permitted.

Winners will be announced at a reception on Sunday, April 28 from 2-4pm at The Art Rooms. Place a silent bid on one of several hand-painted scarves, art kits, handbags, and more. Support HSHC by purchasing ten raffle tickets for $5. Refreshments at the reception are provided by Laurrapin Grille and Tidewater Restaurant. Music will be provided courtesy of Studio Students of Beth Baker – Woodwinds for a Cause.

Be creative and have fun with this project! Artists have the option of selling their finished figurines or paintings and keeping 100% of the proceeds or donating the proceeds to HSHC.
