We’d love to introduce you to Caramel Sauce, a tiny but mighty warrior who is thriving in her foster home! At just four months old and weighing 3.1 pounds, this little survivor has faced unimaginable challenges—and her resilience and spirit are truly inspiring.
Caramel Sauce was found as a stray, lying motionless on a sidewalk, unable to move. When a kindhearted rescuer brought her into our care, we discovered she had a fractured spine and an injured lower vertebra, leaving her with little to no sensation or mobility from the waist down.
When others might have given up all hope, our medical team decided to take a chance with some alternative therapies. But there was one more hurdle: Caramel was severely depressed, and we feared she might not make it through the weekend. One of our experienced foster parents stepped in to take her home, and against all odds, this brave girl refused to give up.
Thanks to the dedicated care of Fallston Veterinary Clinic, our very own Dr. McCadden, and her loving foster family, Caramel Sauce is making remarkable progress!
- Laser Therapy: At Fallston Veterinary Clinic, treatments focus on her spine, hips, stifles, tarsus, and right forelimb/shoulder. Each 15-minute session is done multiple times a week—and she’s so relaxed, Caramel often dozes off mid-treatment!
- Acupuncture: Once a week, Caramel Sauce receives acupuncture at HSHC with Dr. McCadden. This holistic therapy helps reduce pain, decrease inflammation, and stimulate nerve function. It’s been a game-changer for her recovery!
And now, for the best news—since starting these treatments, Caramel Sauce has regained full movement and sensation in her upper right leg and control of her bladder! 🎉 While her lower half is still healing, she’s showing small but exciting signs of progress, including twitching and tiny movements. During acupuncture, she’s more active than ever, lifting her upper body with ease and showing off her unstoppable spirit!
