Fallston, MD (February 24, 2020) – The ballots have all been counted and the readers of Harford Magazine have voted The Humane Society of Harford County (HSHC) as the county’s 2019 Best Charity/Nonprofit. But this isn’t the animal shelter’s first win. In fact, HSHC is celebrating its seventh year in a row as Best Charity/Nonprofit in Harford Magazine’s Best of Harford County Readers’ Choice Poll.

“We are extremely proud to be held in such high regard by members of our community,” HSHC executive director Jen Swanson said. “Our staff, volunteers, and board of directors are all devoted to providing the absolute best care and service to the pets and people of Harford County.”

This honor comes on the heels of the shelter releasing its annual statistics last week. HSHC just wrapped another successful year and is celebrating a 90% live release rate for 2019, a 3% decrease over 2018, yet one of the highest rates in the shelter’s history.

Since 1946, the Humane Society of Harford County (HSHC) has been part of the community, helping people and making an extraordinary impact for animals in need.
