HSHC Named Harford’s Best Charity a Sixth Straight Time

The readers of Harford Magazine have spoken, naming the Humane Society of Harford County (HSHC) as Harford’s Best Charity/Nonprofit. In this year’s readers’ poll, more than 15,000 voters cast their vote for the county’s best of the best in 66 categories – people and organizations that locals trust and admire.

But this isn’t the first time HSHC has received the honor. In fact, HSHC has been named top charity six years in a row, and staff and volunteers at the shelter in Fallston, MD couldn’t be prouder.

“To the readers of Harford Magazine: thank you for your vote of confidence,” says Jen Swanson, executive director at the shelter. “We strive to provide the very best care to the homeless animals of this county and provide top-notch customer service. In 2018 we had our highest live release rate in our 72-year history at 93% and that’s due in large part to a supportive community that backs us every day.”
