I’ve watched young, rambunctious dogs leap out of their kennels to start new lives with new people. I’ve seen kittens go in those temporary cardboard carriers with anxious new families who can’t wait to get home and play.
But I’ve never been disappointed.
I’m waiting for my special person. The one who will take me on walks, but also enjoys a quiet sit on the porch. Someone who craves companionship more than just play. The one who knows that I proudly wear every white hair as a badge of honor; that each hair represents one day of experience in being the very best friend you’ll have.
