August 2010 All Month $25 Feline Special! Due to a high number of cats and kittens at the shelter who need loving homes, we are offering a special $25 adoption fee! The $25 adoption fee includes: initial vaccinations (including rabies), de-worming, flea & tick preventative, and a general health exam. Microchips are optional and cost only $10 more. In return, you get a lifetime of love and companionship! Does not include spay/neuter which requires a $50 deposit that is refunded upon completion of procedure within 60 days. On Sunday, August 1st the Humane Society of Harford County is launching its 2011 Calendar Contest…and we need a cover model! It’s easy and it’s fun. Simply go to https://www.360photocontest.com/65 to upload your pet photos for just $10 per entry. Then share the contest with your friends and family and ask them to vote for your pet(s). Each vote costs $1 with a minimum of 5 votes per person. The photo with the most votes by 11:59pm on September 30th will appear on the cover of the calendar. September 3, 2010, Fri 6pm – 10pm Humane Society Night at Ripken Stadium The Aberdeen Ironbirds would like to invite all animal lovers out to Ripken Stadium to take part in a Humane Society of Harford County night on Friday, September 3rd. The Ironbirds will be taking on the Connecticut Tigers. Gates open at 6pm and the game time is 7:05. We will also be showcasing animals up for adoption on the field and the concourse throughout the night. Adoptions counselors will be on hand to answer your adoption questions and help you find your match. Tickets cost just $12 per seat. Shop for pet supplies, holiday decorations, household items, books & movies, electronics, furniture, children’s items, small appliances and much, much more! Proceeds benefit the homeless animals at the shelter. Bring your donations of gently used items to the Humane Society to sell. September 26, 2010, Sun 12pm – 5pm Responsible Dog Ownership Day (& Adopt-a-Thon) The Humane Society of Harford County and a few of its adoptable dogs will join the Northeastern Maryland Kennel Club and PetSmart to celebrate the 2nd Annual Responsible Dog Ownership Day on Sunday, September 26th from 12-5pm. The event will be held at PetSmart in Abingdon, 412 Constant Friendship Boulevard. Adoptions counselors and volunteers will be on hand to answer your questions and help you find a best friend. There will be tons of activities, information, demonstrations, raffles, pictures, food and drink.

October 30, 2010, Sat 9am - 2pm Walk & Wag-a-Thon and Pet Fair On Saturday, October 30th from 9am-2pm, the Humane Society of Harford County will hold the Walk & Wag-a-Thon and Pet Fair, a benefit for the homeless and abused animals of Harford County. The walking route, which suits all levels of walkers, is approximately one mile. Participants are strongly urged to collect pledges and to ask as many people as possible (family, friends, co-workers) to support the animals. Registration begins at 9am and the walk will step off at noon. Enjoy a multitude of contests including: biggest/smallest dog, best costume, best kisser, musical tails, best trick, and human/canine lookalike. Take in the exhibitions with your canine friend, enjoy delicious food, great vendors, family fun, and much more!
