Fallston, MD (March 31, 2011) – In an effort to find forever homes for animals that have remained at the shelter for a long period of time, the Humane Society of Harford County has established the Lonely Hearts Club, a new program that offers a 50% discount on the pet adoption fee. Animals that are in the Lonely Hearts Club are designated on the Humane Society’s website at www.harfordshelter.org in the pet search section, and a Lonely Hearts Club sticker is affixed to their kennel card at the shelter.

Every day, certain animals watch visitors come to the Humane Society of Harford County searching for their new best friend. These animals are hoping that someone will stop and pay attention to them, give them a home and a new life. Unfortunately, time after time, these animals get overlooked. They may be older, not as outgoing or eye-catching, or just blend in with the rest, but they will still make wonderful pets if given the opportunity.

All animals at the shelter, including those in the Lonely Hearts Club, are given their vaccinations, microchipped and are adopted out with a HASP (Harford Animal Sterilization Program) certificate so the animal can be spayed or neutered.

The Humane Society of Harford County is open Monday through Friday from 11am to 6pm; Saturdays from 10am to 5pm; and Sundays from 12pm to 4pm.
